National chairman of Labour Party (LP) Julius Abure and his brother have been discharged from a private hospital after a fire incident at the politician’s house in Abuja on Wednesday.
LP national youth leader Kennedy Ahanotu disclosed this to PUNCH, the newspaper reported on Friday.
“Yes, the national chairman has been discharged and asked to come back tomorrow for further check-up,” Ahanotu said.
The party earlier described the fire incident, which began at 1am on Wednesday, as an assassination attempt.

According to a statement by the party’s national publicity secretary Obiora Ifoh, “it took divine intervention for the national chairman and his family to escape after neighbours and security men gallantly pulled down one of the windows upstairs, making ways for the family to escape.”
This comes amid division in the LP over Abure’s leadership. The national convention held by the party last month in Nnewi, Anambra State has been rejected by several stakeholders of the party including its former presidential candidate Peter Obi and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
