Jumia Travel has once again cemented its position as the leading hotel booking portal in Nigeria after winning the Hotel Booking Portal of the Year Award at the Nigeria Technology Awards held last weekend at the City Mall, Onikan Lagos.
Other nominees for the category included Hotels.ng and Hotel NowNow.
The Nigeria Technology Awards is an annual event organised by Technology Avenue, a leading media, events and entertainment company to celebrate and promote the excellent achievements to which Nigerian technology professionals and organizations contribute towards building a sustainable economy using technology.
Among other things, the awards event is aimed at encouraging local practitioners to develop innovative and creative technology solutions, which will uplift the image of Nigeria both locally and internationally.
While receiving the award, Head of PR & Marketing for Jumia Travel Nigeria, Olukayode Kolawole, who represented the company’s Managing Director, Kushal Dutta, said the award was another feather added to the company’s cap, and a true reflection of its claim of being the number one hotel booking portal in Nigeria and Africa.
“This award has in a way proved our claim of being the leader in the online hotel booking industry. We’re indeed honoured and we thank each and every one of you that voted for us; we will not disappoint you in providing the best service experience and the best hotel room prices, and connecting you with your choice hotels anywhere in Nigeria & Africa,” Kolawole said.
Jumia Travel recently organised a capacity building workshop for the hospitality industry where it provided hands-on training for hotel managers in Lagos on best practice customer service approach, and innovative ways to create more hotel room options for customers to choose from.
Jumia Travel was founded in 2013 by Jumia and is backed by MTN, Rocket Internet, Millicom, Orange, Axa and financial partners.
It was known as Jovago before a change of name in June 2016.
