Movie producer and actress Adanma Luke has broken her silence on the boat accident that killed some of her crew members and actor Junior Pope.
Junior Pope was confirmed dead on Wednesday night after several attempts to resuscitate him failed. The actor alongside other crew members drowned in the River Niger area on their way back from the set of Another Side of Life, a movie produced by Adanma Luke.
Following the circumstances surrounding their deaths, many blamed and accused Adanma of negligence, asking her to take responsibility for the tragic incident.
The mother of one finally bowed to pressure as she turned herself over the the police for questioning.
However, in a video shared on her Instagram account on Saturday, the filmmaker shared her side of the story in which she stated that she is still sad and traumatised over the tragic incident.
“I’ve been so traumatised, this whole thing still feels like a dream to me. I just wish I could wake up from this dream. I’ve not been able to make any statement because we’ve been trying to recover the body. It is so sad that this had to happen on my set. I blame myself for coming down to Asaba,” she said in parts.
Adanma also said she was supposed to be on the boat with the crew but when she got there, one of the crew members named Emeka informed her of the boat accident.
Captioning the video, Adanma pointed out that the life jacket was free. In the video, she claimed those who wore life jackets survived but her production manager said Junior Pope rejected his life jacket because it was dirty.
“Why međź’” Life jacket was free,” she wrote.
Adanma also added that she has been making provisions to ensure that the bodies of the victims are returned home for burial.
