Former governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose has lost his immediate elder sister Moji Ladeji.
On behalf of the family, Mr Fayose tweeted, saying she died on Monday after a brief illness.
“On behalf my family, I announce the death of my immediate elder sister, Mrs Moji Ladeji. She died today, after a brief illness,” he wrote.
“We are pained by your departure, but consoled by the God fearing and exemplary life that you lived. May the soul of Sister Moji rest in peace.”
Ladeji had been on the watch list of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In November 2016, the anti-graft agency said it needed her to answer questions regarding a N200 million house located at 44 Osun Crescent, Maitama, Abuja, a highbrow area in the nation’s capital.
The building has since been sealed off by the EFCC.
According to court documents, the building was allegedly bought by Fayose from proceeds of corrupt practices but the title documents of the house bear the name of Fayose’s sister.
The EFCC said they suspected the ex-governor did that to cover his track.
Ladeji was based in the United Kingdom.
