Movie director Reginald Ebere is dead

Nollywood director and screenwriter Reginald Ebere has died.

The award-winning filmmaker died on Sunday.

National secretary of Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) Perekeme Odon confirmed the news on Monday. He said, “We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of our dear brother and colleague, Mr. Reginald Ebere.”

Actor and voiceover artiste Segun Arinze also confirmed the development.

The cause of Ebere’s death could not be immediately ascertained.

In 2018, Ebere slumped on a movie set in Enugu. He was said to have suffered a stroke which condemned him to a bed.

The deceased was a theatre arts graduate of the University of Jos, founder of The Script Factory, and channel manager and head of production on the Infinity TV platform.

He has three sons with Maureen Ebere.

Ebere was famous for writing the screenplay for the 1999 Nollywood blockbuster Issakaba.
