The Nigerian government has announced that international flights will resume from August 29.
Minister of aviation Hadi Sirika made the announcement in a Twitter post on Monday.
According to him, the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja would be the first airports to begin the flights.
“Glad to announce the resumption of international flights from the 29th of August, 2020.
“Beginning with Lagos and Abuja as we did with the domestic flight resumption. Protocols and procedures will be announced in due course. We thank you for your patience,” Mr Sirika said.
Nigerian airports have been closed since March 23 to all but essential international flights as part of the country’s efforts to combat the new coronavirus.
