Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says he has been admitted to a hospital for surgery over pain in the leg.
Prof Osinbajo tweeted this on Saturday, saying the pain is most likely from an injury sustained while playing squash.
“I have been admitted today at the hospital for a surgical procedure on account of a recurrent pain in the leg possibly sustained from an injury while playing squash,” he wrote.
His spokesman Laolu Akande also tweeted, “VP Osinbajo is in the hospital today for a surgical procedure on account of a recurrent pain in the leg possibly sustained from an injury while playing squash.”
Mr Akande added, “His doctors would give an update of the treatment later today.”
On Thursday, Osinbajo participated in a meeting with G-7 diplomats, Egypt and some global agencies on the global net-zero emissions target by 2050-2060.
