Uche Nwosu, son-in-law of the former governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha, has been arrested, police said on Sunday.
The 2019 governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) was earlier reported to have been whisked away by gunmen.
However, Imo police spokesperson Michael Abattam said Nwosu is in police custody.
“Nwosu was arrested by the police, not kidnapped as insinuated in the social media,” he said.
Mr Abattam added that Nwosu was arrested over a case that is being investigated.
Nwosu was arrested at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Eziama-Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State where he was worshipping with his family.
Nwosu and his family were in church for the thanksgiving service of his late mother Jemimah Nwosu.
