Fuji musician K1 de Ultimate on Friday urged partygoers to spray dummy currencies instead of abusing the naira as cash scarcity bites harder in Nigeria.
The musician made the call during the entertainment of guests at the burial of Thompson Ogunsanwo, father of Alara of Ilara Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo in Epe.
Singing during the event, K1 de Ultimate said the government’s directive that people should stop spraying money at parties does not affect dummy money designed for owambe parties.
The dummy currencies used at Ogunsanwo’s burial were designed by Stella Ogunleye’s 247Sl Events.
Ms Ogunleye posted samples of the dummy currencies on her company’s Instagram page, saying it is a new way to spray money at parties.
“We had this at the burial reception for kabiesi Alara father’s burial
“It’s a good way to stop the abuse of throwing naira at parties
“Pls note, this is not money in any way, it’s termed as event currency or party props,” she wrote in the caption of the Instagram post.
A voice in the video is also heard saying “this is not money; it is just party props. This note is not valid outside this event.”
It added that it is just to have fun instead of abusing the naira.
Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has renewed its call that Nigerians should stop abusing money.
It follows the cash scarcity caused by the redesign of the N200, N500 and N1000 notes.
Actress Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, also known as Simisola Gold, was recently charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after videos emerged online of her spraying and stepping on naira notes at a party in Lekki.
She was last week granted a N5million bail and ordered to deposit her passport by a Federal High Court.
The case has been adjourned till April 3 for trial.
