Emmanuella Ropo, wife of fuji musician K1 de Ultimate, has congratulated him on his national honours.
K1 born Wasiu Ayinde Marshal was selected among the 437 Nigerians to receive national honours from President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
Emmanuella Ropo announced the goodnews on her Instagram page where she also congratulated him.
She wrote: “A well deserved honour to the Doyen of Music, my darling husband. Congratulations Olasunkanmi. Still in the spirit of celebrating your 50 years on stage and God added this to your feathers.”
K1 started his career as a member of the late Ayinde Barrister’s band between 1975 and 1978, after serving earlier as an ‘instrument packer’.
He went on to release his first album titled, Abode Mecca, in 1980.
Four years later, he released Talazo which is still regarded as one of his most successful bodies of work.
The fuji musician, who hails from Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, has won many local and international awards in the course of his career. He has also performed in many music festivals across the globe.
The 65-year-old recently celebrated his 50 years on stage as a performing musician.
Also known as KWAM1, the singer tied the knot with Emmanuella at a ceremony in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Thursday, November 18, 2021.
