Veteran coach, Kadiri Ikhana, has been appointed manager of former Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Kano Pillars, for the third time.
The Masu Gida parted company with ex-coach, Mohammed Baba Ganaru, after a disappointing campaign in which they finished seventh in the league.
They however returned to Ikhana who guided them to their first league title in 2008 before stepping down citing corruption in the system.
The 64-year-old managed to save the three-time champions from relegation in 1998 during his first stint at the club.
“This is the third time we will be having Ikhana as the coach,” Pillars spokesperson, Idris Malikawa, said during his unveiling on Tuesday.
“We are very confident he will bring back the good times, we know where we truly belong and we will be there next season Insha Allah.”
Ikhana, who started his coaching career in 1986 with El Kanemi Warriors, is undoubtedly the most successful and experienced gaffer in the domestic scene.
Aside Pillars, the tactician had also managed Kwara United, Enyimba, Sharks, Nasarawa United, Giwa FC and Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).
He won the CAF Champions League and NPFL titles in 2003 and 2015 respectively with Enyimba.
