Nollywood actor Kanayo O Kanayo has congratulated Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her appointment as director-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) with her picture from 1970\1971.
The 58-year-old shared the picture on Instagram on Thursday.
He said the picture was taken during her confirmation at St Anne’s School, Molete Ibadan.
“I have been thinking of how to congratulate the first female and the first African to emerge as the Director General of the World Trade Organisation , Dr Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala, until I got this photo of her, taken during CONFIRMATION AT ST ANNE’S SCHOOL, MOLETE IBADAN (1970/1971).
“Aunty, congratulations, we are superbly proud of you. We know you will make us proud. It’s not today she started wearing the glasses oooooo, e don tey @ngoziokonnjoiweala,’ he wrote.
The WTO members took the decision to appoint Okonjo-Iweala at a special meeting of the General Council, following a selection process that included eight candidates from around the world.
Her tenure begins on March 1, 2021.
