Kannywood actress Samba Inuwa has been suspended for 12 months by the Kano State Censorship Board for violations of its regulations, including indecent dressing and posting vulgar content.
The board also revoked her operating license, effectively barring her from appearing in any films during the suspension period.
In a statement signed by the board’s Information Officer, Abdullahi Sulaiman, the actress was accused of repeatedly ignoring warnings about her behavior.
“Despite several cautions regarding her crude dressing and vulgar displays, she continued to flout the board’s regulations,” the statement read.
The decision, according to the board, followed numerous complaints from concerned citizens and was taken to uphold Kano’s cultural, religious and moral values.
The board also announced it would halt the censorship of any films featuring Samba during her suspension.
This development aligns with the vision of the board’s new leadership under Abba Al-Mustapha to enforce stricter adherence to industry standards and restore discipline in Hausa filmmaking.
