Former Super Eagles forward, Kanu Nwankwo, and Bianca Ojukwu, wife of late Biafra warlord, Odumegwu Ojukwu, have attended the inauguration of Emeka Ihedioha as governor of Imo State.
Mr Ihedioha and his deputy, Gerald Irona, were sworn in on Wednesday at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
Kanu told his audience that he believed in Ihediora to govern Imo well.
“I strongly believe in the experience and proven integrity of the new governor. What everyone needs is patience and maximum cooperation and we shall reach our desired destination,” Kanu said.
Mrs Ojukwu described the inauguration as a ‘point of liberation’ for Imo people.
She urged the new governor to brace up for work.
Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo, Charles Ezekwem, thanked Imo residents for their support and love during and after the general elections.
He also called for support for the governor so he would fulfill his campaign promises.
Imo PDP Women Leader, Maria Mbakwe, urged Imo women to work in harmony with the wife of the governor, Ebere Ihedioha, as this would enable her succeed in her new role.
