Filmmaker, Kemi Adetiba, has publicly reacted to news that her King of Boys has grossed N105 million at the cinema.
In a post to Instagram on Friday, the 38-year-old appreciated the favour of God and highlighted the role hard work played in the success of sophomore feature movie.
Adetiba thanked the cast and crew for their role in making the movie a success, noting that the production process was not particularly easy.
The cinematographer also paid tribute to the fans, saying “And finally, grateful for you all that supported with your time and by spending money to take this film to where it is now. You guys pushed this movie as if it were YOURS and you are part of the KOB family. And that’s because you are!! Thank you all so much.”
Starring Sola Sobowale, Adesua Etomi, Reminisce, Jide Kosoko and others, King of Boys was released in the weekend of October 26.
It had previously achieved the feat of the biggest ever opening week for a non-comedy Nollywood film, second highest opening of a Nollywood film in 2018 and the second highest opening week by a female director.
The next target, according to Moses Babatope of FilmOne Distribution, is the N150million mark.
If King of Boys keeps its strong pace, Babatope told members of a WhatsApp group, “Even N200million and a run into December may not be out of reach.”
Kemi Adetiba directed her first feature film, The Wedding Party, in 2016.
