Elegushi of Ikateland Oba Saheed Elegushi on Monday paid tribute to the late former Lagos State commissioner for women affairs and poverty alleviation in the Tinubu administration Kemi Nelson.
Nelson, the Yeye Sewa of Lagos, died on July 17, 2022.
Oba Elegushi shared a photo of himself and Nelson on Instagram, describing her as a “great friend.” He added that she was also a “community builder.”
The monarch began his tribute with the quote, “To live in the hearts of those who love you, is not to die.”
“It’s been a year since you departed but the memory of your time on this sides remains indelible,” Oba Elegushi continued.
“You were a great friend, a darling sister and a community builder.
“We are consoled by your legacies and we continue to hold them in fond memories of you.
“May your soul continue to rest in perfect peace, Chief (Mrs) Kemi Nelson (Yeye Sewa of Lagos).”

Nelson died at the age of 66 of an undisclosed ailment.
She was formerly the executive director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).
Nelson was a close associate of Tinubu although they both contested the Lagos West Senatorial District seat in 1992. She was a member of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC) at the time.
The socialite was the women leader of Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress before holding the position of south west women leader of APC.
Nelson was notably the only female member of the Lagos State governor’s advisory council (GAC), the highest decision-making body in APC Lagos.
