The kidnapped chairman of the Abia State All Progressives Congress (APC), Donatus Nwankpa, has regained his freedom.
Mr Nwankpa was kidnapped on Monday night on his way to Aba.
The Abia APC chairman’s kidnap came few hours to President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the state to commission an Independent Power Plant for Ariaria Market in Aba and attend a presidential rally.
An aide of Nwankpa was also kidnapped but he was later released with some injuries.
Abia APC spokesperson, Benedict Godson, said on Friday that Nwampka was released on Thursday night with no ransom paid.
“We thank God for his safe return and we appreciate all those who in one way or the other contributed to his safe return.
“We also want to thank our governorship candidate and other leaders of the party in the state for standing with us since he was kidnapped,” he said.
