Anambra State commissioner for youth development Patrick Mba and his wife Chizoba, who were kidnapped on August 16, have been released by their captors.

PUNCH reports that a top government official said they were released on Saturday.

“The kidnapped commissioner of youth development and his wife have been released today,” the source added.

The commissioner and his wife were attacked in Edo State while heading to Abuja for the wedding ceremony of Adaora, daughter of Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo.

One of Mba’s aides Ernest Offiah, a lawyer, was killed.

Adaora’s traditional marriage was held last week in Isuofia, a community in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.

The church wedding took place on Saturday, August 17 in Abuja.

Adaora’s husband Arinze Ibekwe is a native of Onitsha just like Mba and his slain aide.
