A driver of the Nation newspaper, Port Harcourt zonal office, Godknows Longjohn, who was kidnapped on Tuesday, has been freed.
Mr Longjohn was abducted at Omerelu, a border community between Rivers and Imo States while on his way to Awka, Anambra state.
The driver was heading to Awka to deliver the day’s edition of the Nation publication when he was abducted.
The suspected gunmen were said to have picked him up and abandoned his vehicle and the packages therein in the middle of the highway.
After demanding N1.5 million for his release, the suspected kidnappers reportedly reduced the amount to N300,000 and N150,000.
The driver was later set free on Thursday unhurt and unconditionally.
