The abductors of the mother of former Nigerian international, Samson Siasia, have reduced their demand for ransom for Beauty Siasia to N50 million from the initial N70 million.
A family source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the family offered to pay N500, 000, as Siasia has been out of job for some time.
Mrs Siasia, 79, has now been in her captors’ hands for over two weeks after she was kidnapped on July 15 with two others in Odoni community, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa.
The septuagenarian was kidnapped with a woman, Florence Douanana, 65, and her 17-year-old daughter, Selekire Douanana.
“The kidnappers have reduced the ransom from N70m to N50m without consideration to the health of the woman.
“The family offered to pay N500,000 to secure the freedom of the woman but the kidnappers rebuffed the offer saying it was too small,” the source said.
Police in Bayelsa had on Sunday said they were still investigating the kidnap.
