Eze Henry Madumere, father of former Imo State deputy governor Prince Eze Madumere, has been released by his captors after five days.
Madumere, who is the traditional ruler of Ezi Mbieri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, was received with cheers at his palace on Wednesday.
The 89-year-old monarch was taken captive on November 19 around Iho community in Ikeduru council area.
The ex-deputy governor announced that his father had regained his freedom in a statement released by his media aide, Uche Onwuchekwa.
“The father of the former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere’s father, HRH, Eze Henry Anoruo Madumere, has regained freedom from his abductors,” the statement read.
“Pa Madumere who is the traditional ruler of Ezi-Mbieri Autonomous Community was released by the kidnappers in the early morning of Wednesday.
“He was, however, taken straight to the hospital for a medical check-up. He arrived at his home town, Achi, Ezi Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo State. He was received with thunderous shouts of joy by his family and subjects.”
