Gunmen who kidnapped the teenage daughter of a pastor in Adamawa State on July 5 have released her for an undisclosed price, a family source said on Monday.
Pastor Daniel Umaru of the Church of Brethren (EYN) at Njairi in Mubi North Local Government Area was shot in the attack. His two sons were killed while his daughter was kidnapped.
The family source did not reveal the amount of money paid to secure the freedom of the 13-year-old.
Adamawa police spokesperson Sulaiman Nguroje told Daily Trust that the kidnapped teenager returned home Saturday night.
Nguroje noted that the case is being investigated.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the attack on the clergyman.
Buhari, who was represented by the secretary to the government of the federation Boss Mustapha, condemned the attack when he visited the national vice president of EYN Church, Rev. Anthony Ndamsai on Monday in Mubi.
He assured that his administration would take action to ensure those behind the attack face justice.
Buhari prayed for the quick recovery of Umaru who is currently receiving treatment.
