Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys has hit the N100 million mark at the cinema less than a month after its release.
The film starring Sola Sobowale, Adesua Etomi, Reminisce, Jide Kosoko was released on October 26.
“So proud to announce that Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys, a film proudly distributed by FilmOne hit the N100m mark on Wednesday night November 14th, 2018,” Moses Babatope of FilmOne told members of Film4Life WhatsApp group on Friday.
King of Boys had previously achieved the feat of the biggest ever opening week for a non-comedy Nollywood film, second highest opening of a Nollywood film in 2018 and the second highest opening week by a female director.
The next target, according to Mr Babatope, is the N150million mark.
He added that these are exciting times for the Nigerian movie industry with Ayo Makun’s Merry Men already at N230million.
If King of Boys keeps its strong pace, Babatope said, “Even N200million and a run into December may not be out of reach.”
Kemi Adetiba directed her first feature film, The Wedding Party, in 2016.
The film grossed N453,050,000 at the cinema.
