Former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, has knocked off a critic who referred to him as ‘low-budget Barack Obama’.
Moghalu tweeted on Tuesday, saying he got several comments as such during his bid to be Nigerian president in 2019.
He, however, maintained optimism that if Obama could make history as the United States’ first black president, he too would.
“A Nigerian recently shaded me on Twitter: ‘What’s the low-budget Barack Obama saying now?’ Inverted compliment, actually,” he wrote.
“During the 2019 presidential campaign many made the same comparison with a man who made history. We did too! Our time will come! @BarackObama @ValerieJarrett.”
Moghalu contested for the nation’s top job in 2019 on the platform of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
He exited the party following his loss at the polls to the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.
