Singer Kizz Daniel is set to perform at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The 28-year-old announced his arrival in the country in an Instagram post on Tuesday morning where he shared photos of himself with Qatar as his tagged location.
Captioning the photo, the singer simply added the image of an eagle.
There had been confusion over the date Kizz Daniel was supposed to perform at the event.
Fans who thought the singer was supposed to perform at the opening ceremony on November 20 alongside fellow Nigerian singer CKay became worried when he did not show up on stage.
But the father of two who confirmed he will be performing at the event noted that he was billed to perform on November 23 and not 20 as speculated.
Kizz confirmed this in an Instagram post on Friday, November 11 where he posted photos of himself and other artistes that will be performing at the World cup.
Captioning his post, he wrote: “This one is for Africa. This one is for Vado nation. See you in Qatar World Cup on 23/11/2022.”
The opening ceremony of the event started with American movie star Morgan Freeman as the narrator extending one yellow-gloved hand to a FIFA World Cup ambassador suffering from a rare spinal disorder in an image meant to represent inclusion in a country facing international criticism over its human rights record.
“What unites us is greater than what divides us. We are one big tribe and the Earth is our tent. Together we can make the call for everyone to unite,” the actor noted.
Thereafter, lead vocalist of the Korean pop band BTS, Jung Kook, thrilled fans at the Al Bayt Stadium with his performance alongside Qatari singer Fahad Al-Kubaisi.
Other artistes slated to perform at Al Bayt Stadium include American DJ Thomas Wesley better known as Diplo who would be performing today, November 22, Canadian actress, dancer and singer Nora Fatehi who is set to perform on November 29 after Kizz Daniel, American singer and songwriter Trinidad Cardona who would be performing on December 1 and award-winning DJ Calvin Harris set to perform on December 10.
Before he was announced as one of the headliners for the event, Kizz Daniel born Daniel Anidugbe had expressed his desire to perform his hit song ‘Buga’ at the World Cup.
Kizz Daniel said this in a tweet on June 23 after the release of the music video which became an instant hit.
He wrote: “God I want to perform BUGA for World Cup with a mass choir help me say amen #qatar2022worldcup.”
