One man who might have kicked against Funke Akindele’s short-lived marriage to Kehinde Almaroof long before the actress exchanged vows with the Muslim faithful was her late grandfather, Rev Richard Olubunmi Akindele.
Information supplied by the Jenifa superstar’s sister, Olubunmi, on Facebook on Sunday indicated that the deceased was a Pentecostal missionary who embarked on a crusade beyond the shores of Nigeria.
According to Olubunmi, Rev Akindele “introduced the Apostolic Church to Sierra Leone and translated the entire hymn book from English to Yoruba.”
With a demonstrable zeal to win souls for Christ, the old man would probably have opposed his beloved granddaughter getting yoked with an “unbeliever”.
Funke’s mum though is still an active member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM).
