Dismissed police inspector, Ogunyemi Olalekan, charged for fatally shooting a football fan, Kolade Johnson, has been remanded in prison for another 35 days by an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

The 45-year-old ex-inspector had spent the last 30 days in Ikoyi Prison after he was remanded by the court on April 6.

When his case was called up on Monday, Magistrate A.O. Salawu said the extension to June 10 was necessary because he had not got advice on the case from the Office of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Ogunyemi, a resident of No. 17, Alhaji Ede Street, Igando, was not in court on Monday.

His arraignment comes after the police recommended him for dismissal after being found guilty in an Orderly Room Trial.

Police prosecutor, Kehinde Olatunde, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 31, at 5.10 p.m., at Onipetesi Estate, Idi-Mangoro, Lagos.

He also said the alleged offence contravened Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
