Fuji musician Sulaimon Adekunle, widely known as KS1 Malaika, has celebrated his mother’s birthday one week after false news of her death circulated.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the musician shared a photo of his mother, offering prayers for her longevity and good health.

He captioned the post, “Happy birthday to you, my everything. As you embrace this beautiful year of your life, may happiness accompany you in every endeavor. You shall continue to live in good health and wealth to enjoy the fruit of your labor.”

KS1’s cousin, Azeez Malaika also shared a tribute to her on Instagram, praying for her strength and long life. He wrote, “Happy birthday to you, my golden mother.

“May Allah give you more strength to play a role in my life… I pray death will never take you away from me now so you can continue to enjoy the fruits of your labor. I celebrate you today, and I pray I get to celebrate you for many more years, Iya mi.”

This celebration comes just a week after rumours of KS1 Malaika’s mother’s death spread, which the artiste promptly debunked, confirming she was alive and well.

The confusion arose after Azeez Malaika posted a picture announcing the death of his mother. Many mistakenly believed he was referring to KS1 Malaika’s mother, as Azeez is often called “Aburo Malaika,” meaning “Malaika’s younger brother”, due to their close relationship and Yoruba traditions.

Azeez later clarified that while he and Malaika are related they do not share the same mother.
