Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has explained why he cast his daughter Eyiyemi Afolayan for the role of Princess Omowunmi in his Netflix hit film Anikulapo.
The filmmaker posted a video of himself and Eyiyemi on Instagram on Wednesday, saying that the role required someone who possesses the beauty of a princess.
He said: “If you want to portray the role of a princess, I think there is no giving that the person has to be beautiful and she is beautiful.”
“It felt good because I did not have to pay her, even though I was paying her directly or indirectly,” the 48-year-old playfully added.
Speaking about her character in the film, Eyiyemi described Princess Omowunmi as one who appeared foolish and gullible.
She said: “Omowunmi is very foolish. Because I mean, Saro never proposed love to her but she started having ideas in her head. Omowunmi is beautiful no doubt, and Omowunmi is gullible.”
