Actor Kunle Remi has made a resurrection joke about Saro, the character he played in Kunle Afolayan’s film Anikulapo.
Kunle who was dressed as a doctor at rapper Falz’s costume birthday party on Thursday night joked about resurrecting Toke Makinwa who was dressed as a law enforcement official.
“I am a doctor, I will resurrect you but you have to die first,” the actor playfully said.
While the duo talked, Mr Macaroni made a video of himself and Kunle hailing him as Saro, the one who resurrects all. Mr Macaroni also chanted the popular phrase “gbere dide.” which Saro said in the movie.
Since the release of the critically acclaimed film, Kunle Remi has gained global recognition for his performance in the film.
Set in the 17th century Oyo Kingdom, Anikulapo centers on the story of Saro, a young cloth weaver, who is brought back to life by a mystical bird after he was beaten to death for having an affair with Arolake, the Alaafin’s youngest wife.
The bird left a gourd that had the power of resurrection. Arolake gave the gourd to Saro and fortune smiled on them.
The movie stars Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Sola Sobowale, Taiwo Hassan, Adebayo Salami, Dele Odule, Yinka Quadri, Faithia Williams, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, Mr Macaroni, Sunday Omobolanle, Toyin Afolayan, Kareem Adepoju and Hakeem Kae-Kazim.
