Suspected thugs have attacked the convoy of former governor of Kano State, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, in Kano.
About three SUVs were destroyed in the attack which occurred close to a three-star hotel in the city on Tuesday.
Kwankwaso had held a meeting with the chairman of Kano State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward congress, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, before the incident happened.
A statement on Wednesday by Ibrahim Adam, spokesman of the 2019 PDP governorship candidate in Kano, Abba Yusuf, said: “the leader escaped unhurt”.
The statement read: “While leaving the hotel, some hired thugs attacked the convoy of Sen. Kwankwaso and destroyed 3 cars belonging to some of our House of Assembly members.
“But, Alhamdulillah, the congress was successful. They couldn’t achieve what they wanted to achieve.”
