The Kwara Government has reaffirmed its commitment to healthcare development with the prompt disbursement of the 2025 Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) to 37 resident doctors in the state civil service.
The state commissioner for Health, Dr Amina El-Imam, disclosed this on Thursday in Ilorin while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of an event.
El-Imam noted that this marks the third consecutive year the state government has fulfilled its obligation to support resident doctors through the MRTF.
According to her, the initiative plays a vital role in easing the financial burden associated with the doctors’ intensive training programmes.
The commissioner expressed appreciation to Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unwavering support to the health sector and reiterated the administration’s commitment to strengthening human capital development in healthcare.
She said the timely disbursement was aimed at ensuring that young medical professionals remained focused on their clinical education and the delivery of quality healthcare services to the people of Kwara.
“The MRTF is not just a financial intervention; it is a clear reflection of this administration’s priorities and values.
“Our resident doctors are the future of our healthcare system, and this support ensures their journey toward specialisation is not hindered by financial challenges,” El-Imam stated.
She reaffirmed the government’s dedication to fostering an enabling environment for healthcare professionals to thrive.
The commissioner further assured the people of the government’s commitment to ensuring the delivery of quality, accessible, and sustainable healthcare services across the state.
