The speaker of the Kwara House of Assembly, Mr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has sympathised with the victims of heavy rainstorms in some parts of the state, assuring them of prompt government intervention and support.
The speaker said this in a statement in Ilorin on Saturday by his chief press secretary, Mr Shehu Abdulkadir, expressing deep commiseration with the victims of the rainstorm that occurred on Friday in Ilesha-Baruba.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the rainstorm claimed a life in Ilesha-Baruba in Baruten Local Government Area, as well as destroyed several properties in some parts of the state.
“I wish to extend our sincere condolences and deep sympathy to our people who are victims of rainstorms across the state, especially the one that happened on Friday, which claimed a life in Ilesha-Baruba in Baruten Local Government Area of the state.
“May God forgive the deceased and grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss,” he said.
The speaker called on the disaster management agencies both at the state and the federal levels to swing into action by providing succour to the victims of the natural disaster that rendered many homeless.
