Lagos State Government on Tuesday arraigned a bus rapid transit (BRT) driver Oluwaseun Osinbajo, who collided with a moving train at Ikeja and allegedly killed six people.
Mr Osibanjo was arraigned before an Ikeja High Court on a 16-count charge bordering on involuntary manslaughter and grievous harm.
Director of public prosecutions Babajide Martins told Justice Oyindamola Ogala that the BRT driver negligently killed the victims by ignoring warning signals and running into an on-coming train.
He said the defendant also negligently inflicted grievous harm on 10 other passengers on the bus.
The 44-year-old driver had blamed the incident on a mechanical fault in the bus.
But some survivors said he was wearing a set of earphones while driving and that he ignored the directive of the flag officers at the rail line.
The driver was a member of staff of Lagos State Ministry of Transport.
