The Lagos State House of Assembly has commenced live streaming of its plenary sessions following members’ resumption from a month recess.
Majority Leader of the House, Sanai Agunbiade, who announced the commencement of the exercise on Tuesday stated that it would afford Nigerians all over the world the opportunity to watch the sittings of the Assembly live from the comfort of their homes, offices and even while travelling.
According to Agunbiade, the need to make the legislative proceedings in the Lagos State House of Assembly conform to acceptable modern standard all over the world was responsible for the introduction of live streaming at the plenary sessions.
“The leadership of the House under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, is committed to taking the House to greater heights through innovations and adequate infrastructure development.
“Our e-legislative processes have thus been completed with the commencement of the live streaming of plenary sessions of the House.
“Already, the Twitter handle, Instagram and Facebook (accounts) are fully functioning while the website is on 24/7,” Agunbiade said.
The Lagos State House of Assembly thus becomes the first in the country to have its plenary sessions live streamed to the outside world.
Not only that, the House is second only to South Africa parliament in Africa to have its plenary live streamed.
