Lagos State House of Assembly has summoned a former Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Shulamite Adebolu, to appear before it over the failed 2019 Greater Lagos Fiesta.
The assembly passed the resolution during plenary on Tuesday after a motion was moved by chairman, House Committee on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Saka Solaja, under Matter of Urgent Public Importance.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had in January sacked Mrs Adebolu, five months after she was sworn in, over the fiesta’s flop.
The governor immediately redeployed Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf from the Ministry of Home Affairs to head the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
The assembly, however, in its resolution also called the Special Adviser and Permanent Secretary in charge of the ministry to join the former commissioner in appearing before them.
They also called on Mrs Akinbile-Yusuf to brief them on the itinerary of the ministry for this year.
The assembly expressed sadness at how the event failed woefully in 2019, noting that previous editions earned the state huge revenue.
