Elegushi of Ikateland, Oba Saheed Elegushi, Kusenla III, has lost a chief, Murtala Elegushi.
The Alawe of Ikate was said to have died early Tuesday in his sleep.
A statement by the Elegushi Royal family said he was 74.
“Chief Muritala Elegushi will be remembered for his deep knowledge of the history of Ikate-Elegushi, Eti-Osa and Lagos State, which helped in correcting many distortions and facilitated the resolution of many disputes,” the family said.
“A traditional and community leader, he is survived by wives, children, grandchildren and an extended royal family.”
