Lagos State’s coronavirus death toll increased to 72, following five new deaths, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said on Tuesday.
The NCDC made the disclosure in its COVID-19 Situation Report for June 8.
According to NCDC, seven COVID-19 related deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours in three states with Lagos having five, while Kano and Katsina recorded one death each.
The agency disclosed that Lagos also recorded 128 new COVID-19 infections, increasing its total number of confirmed cases to 5,895.
The state, however, did not record new recoveries on the reported day, thus the number of discharged patients recorded for the state remained 944.
Lagos is the epicentre of Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases, with 5,895 infections out of the total 12, 801.
