Lagos seals Havillah Event Centre where Erelu Okin distributed petrol as souvenir

Lagos State Government has sealed the premises of Havillah Event Centre where petrol was shared as souvenirs on Friday.

The incident, which caught public attention when it was shared on social media, was the installation of a socialite Pearl Ogbulu as Erelu Okin by the Olu of Orile Kemta, Oba Adetokunbo Tejuosho.

In a joint effort, officials of the Lagos Safety Commission and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) sealed the event centre in Oniru on Saturday for contravening public safety rules.

Senior special assistant (SSA) to the governor of Lagos State on new media, Jubril Gawat, said the state police commissioner ordered the arrest of those involved.

Lagos State commissioner for information Gbenga Omotoso had said in a statement earlier on Saturday that the state government was investigating the incident.

“There is no doubt that this action is dangerous and can lead to loss of lives and property,” Mr Omotoso said.

“The safety of lives and property of Lagosians and visitors remains a top priority to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration. We, therefore, advise that actions that can lead to loss of lives and property be avoided.”
