Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Wednesday led top management of the ministry on a condolence visit to the family of the late Director of Information in the State House, Mr. Justin Abuah, who passed on recently.
The minister’s delegation to the family in Abuja comprised Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Bayo Onanuga; Director of Public Communication, Mr. Emmanuel Agbegir, and the Director, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Peter Dama.
Mohammed described the late Abuah as a dutiful, self-effacing but highly effective worker who spent a greater part of his career in the State House and appealed to his colleagues to emulate his legacy of service to the nation.
He commiserated with the family of the deceased and urged them not to despair but to put their trust in God as their main comforter and provider.
“After a few days, nobody will come here again but God will remain with you and the children and He will guide you aright and he will provide for your needs,” Mohammed said.
“Put your faith in God and be strong. God will be with you. You will reap from his (Abuah’s) goodwill.”
He said the death of Mr. Abuah was painful but noted that the family should be consoled by the rich legacy he left behind.
Responding on behalf of the family, the elder brother of the deceased, Dr. Arnold Abuah, thanked the minister and his delegation for identifying with the family in their most difficult period.
Mr. Abuah, who was born on Jan. 29, 1959, died on Sunday, Aug. 14 2016, in Abuja after a brief illness.
