Tenant, 36, in court for allegedly assaulting landlady

A 36-year-old man, Sule Sunday was on Friday arraigned in a Karu Magistrates Court, in Abuja for allegedly assaulting his landlady.

The defendant, who resides at Orozo is facing a count charge of assault, an offense he denied committing.

The prosecution counsel, Olarewaju Osho, told the court that a written petition was received at the office of Karu area commander on January 22.

According to the complaint, it was alleged that on December 27, the defendant assaulted Mrs. Gloria Ene, who happened to be his landlady without any provocation.

Osho said that the offense contravened section 265 of the penal code.

The magistrate, Ngozi Okonkwo, however, granted N500,000 bail to the defendant and one surety in like sum.

Okonkwo adjourned the case until February 20, for hearing
