Vice-chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU) Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello has been conferred with the award of fellow of the National Labour Institute (FNLI) by Michael Imodu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Ilorin, Kwara State.
The professor was given the award at the institute’s 40th anniversary held on Tuesday.
The award was presented to her in recognition of her role in the promotion of the welfare and well-being of workers.
Director-general of MINILS Issa Aremu praised Olatunji-Bello for her labour-friendly leadership, which came to the fore during his visit to the universiy. He gave kudos to her for “…promoting decent work agenda” as generously alluded to by workers’ unions in the university, and urged her to continue in that spirit.
Among those who have been given the award in the past are the minister of state for labour and productivity, Festus Keyamo; president, National Industrial Court, Kanyip Benedict; and director-general, National Productivity Centre, Kashim Akor.
Others are the executive secretary, TETFUND, Sony Echono; director-general, NECA, Adewale Oyerinde; and NLC president, Joe Ajaero.
