Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Friday led Nigerian officials to the Jumat prayers to mark the nation’s 59th independence anniversary at the National Mosque in Abuja.
The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Muhammadu Musa-Bello, represented President Muhammadu Buhari at the prayer ground.

Also in attendance were the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad; Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar; and Senator Ibrahim Shekarau among others.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is expected to lead another powerful delegation of government officials to the National Christian Centre on Sunday for the church service of the National Independence Day prayers.
Expected at that event are some serving ministers, service chiefs and other dignitaries.
