Leave my marriage alone, Frederick Leonard warns bloggers

Actor Frederick Leonard has cautioned bloggers spreading rumors about his marriage to actress Peggy Ovire, stating unequivocally that their relationship is not a matter for public speculation.

In a detailed Instagram post shared late Thursday, the actor addressed persistent claims of marital troubles and called for an end to the scrutiny of their union.

Frederick expressed frustration with those who, since their wedding in 2022, have seemingly been waiting for signs of discord.

“Dear idle and useless bloggers, with your empty-headed followers, leave me and my wife’s names out of your contaminated blogs. This marriage is NOT your business,” he wrote.

The actor defended his wife, emphasising her independence and right to personal choices. He noted that Peggy could live her life without conforming to societal expectations.

“Marriage is not slavery. She can post Christmas photos without me, rest her fingers by not wearing her ring, go on vacation alone, wear short dresses and live her life happily. I bought the ring, and I’m not complaining,” he stated.

The 44-year-old also addressed his professional life, dismissing criticisms about his on-screen roles. He urged critics to separate his acting from his real-life persona and stop dragging his co-stars into baseless speculations.

“I’m not going to stop kissing in movies because I’m married. No professional actor anywhere does that. Stop trying to indict innocent actresses working with me. These are professionals earning a living.”

He concluded by asserting that he and Peggy are unbothered by the negativity, promising to treat future rumors as mere entertainment. “Peggy and I are different. Leave us alone! I love my wife, and my wife loves me,” he declared.

Frederick Leonard and Peggy Ovire tied the knot on November 19, 2022, in a traditional ceremony held in Warri, Delta State, with several Nollywood colleagues in attendance.
