Actress Tonto Dikeh has opened up about her decision to leave her marriage, stating it was the best choice she made for both herself and her son.
Tonto revealed this while advicing a single mother who reached out to her on social media on Sunday.
The woman, seeking guidance, asked how the actress managed after her ex-husband left her and their child.
The mother wrote, “Good morning, ma. Please, ma, I have a question. How were you able to cope when your ex-husband left you with your child?
“If there’s any advice, I’m ready to learn. I am a nobody aiming to be somebody soon.”
In her response on her Instagram page, Tonto clarified that it was she who walked away from the marriage, emphasising the importance of prioritising her child’s well-being.
She responded, “First of all, I was the one who chose to walk away from my marriage, not the other way around. I needed to leave a difficult situation—not just for my sake, but for my child as well.
“It was the best decision I ever made.
Remember, you have the power to become the person you aspire to be, as long as you commit to your growth and invest in yourself.
“Prioritise your children’s well-being while seeking guidance and strength from God. Sometimes, the end of one road is the beginning of your blessings. But if your marriage is worth saving, fight for your home.
Take care.”
Tonto also admitted that there’s no rulebook for motherhood, and that she isn’t an expert.
For her, love has been her greatest teacher, and her faith in God gives her strength.
“Dear single mothers,
I don’t have a manual for these things. I am not a pro in this movement. My biggest teacher has been love.
“I let God do His thing, and that has always been enough for me.
Draw strength from God, and most importantly, keep your family matters private.”
