Actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has called on women who have become mothers through IVF or surrogacy to be open about their experiences, highlighting the significance of medical assistance in achieving motherhood.
During a recent TikTok live session, Opeyemi stressed the importance of honesty when sharing stories of fertility struggles.
She encouraged women to include all aspects of their journey, particularly the use of medical interventions like IVF or surrogacy as a way to inspire those who may be in similar situations.
The actress pointed out that such transparency can offer hope and boost confidence in other women considering assisted reproductive methods.
She expressed concern over testimonies that omit essential details, advocating for complete and truthful accounts to better support and educate others.
In a written post, Aiyeola said: “Those of you that did surrogacy, let people know so that they would know that surrogacy works.
“That’s why I applaud people who come out with their full chest and say they had their child through surrogacy or IVF. You all will now give half-baked testimony which doesn’t help others.”
She also critiqued testimonies given in religious settings where she feels vital medical aspects are often overlooked.
“Testimonies shared on the altar! I am a strong believer that God is still in the business of miracles but the way most (not all) believers share their testimonies leaving out all medical support and interventions received is all shades of wrong and deceptive.
“We all need to please remember that unfortunately, we have a lot of vulnerable, gullible, and desperate faithful. Shalom.”
