Liam doesn’t look like Mohbad – Singer’s father

Joseph Aloba, father of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has voiced his frustrations regarding his relationship with Mohbad’s wife and son, as well as the legal proceedings surrounding his son’s death.

In an interview with Silverbird TV aired on Friday, Aloba stated that he has not seen Mohbad’s wife Wunmi, or their son Liam since the singer’s demise.

According to him, the responsibility lies with them to visit him.

“I’ve not seen Mohbad’s wife and son since his death. Even my son, Adura, none of them came to me. They know where I’m living. They are supposed to come to me with the child and say, ‘This is your grandson,’” Aloba said.

Aloba also shared that he demanded a DNA test to confirm Liam’s paternity, expressing doubts that Mohbad was the father.

“I demanded a DNA test. They are supposed to say, ‘Daddy, do it at your convenient time,’ but they’ve been hiding it. Let the court decide. If the DNA says he is Mohbad’s son, I will accept it,” he stated.

When asked if the child bore any resemblance to Mohbad, Aloba adamantly responded, “No, no, no. With what I’m seeing, he’s not. But if the DNA says he is, it’s acceptable.”

Aloba also criticised his other son, Adura, who lived with Mohbad, for not reaching out to him. He alleged that Adura had distanced himself since Mohbad’s death.

“Adura is 22 now but hasn’t called or visited me. It’s like some people are covering him. He’s supposed to know what happened to his brother since they lived together,” Aloba remarked.

On the investigation into Mohbad’s death, Aloba expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in the coroner’s inquest and called on the Lagos State government to reopen it. He revealed that while a private autopsy had been conducted, its results could not be presented until the inquest resumes.

“The delay is unacceptable. Delay leads to denial. I appreciate those working with me, but I’m not satisfied with how the case is being handled,” he said.

Aloba also noted that the private autopsy was paid for by the family but could not be disclosed to him directly. “The court must reopen the inquest so the results can be presented properly,” he added.

Last week, Qed.ng reported that a private autopsy and toxicology test conducted by Mohbad’s family had been completed.

This development followed the rejection of an earlier autopsy by the Lagos State Government, which was deemed inconclusive. The family was granted court permission to conduct an independent investigation.
