Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo, has taken a jab at the Presidency’s praise of the walk undertaken by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.
Buhari, 75, walked a distance of 800 metres from the Eid praying ground to his residence in Daura.
The Presidency, through the Senior Special Assistant Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, described the walk as proof that the President is fit to seek re-election.
However, Dankwambo, in a message posted on Twitter, described Shehu’s statement as tragic.
Reducing governance to mere ‘Walk’ is tragic! 2019 we must raise the bar.

Dankwambo tweet came after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had taken a swipe at Buhari over the walk.
Sharing a picture of himself on the treadmill, Atiku said he regularly jogs more than a mile.
Atiku, 71, and Dankwambo, 56, have both signified their intentions to contest for the Presidency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections.
