The 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season is gradually taking shape with six matches played thus far.
But one team, Plateau United, are already in an improbable streak just like Premier League leaders, Chelsea.
The Blues went on a 13-game winning spree from October to January before they was thwarted by Tottenham.
Antonio Conte’s team are on another run of six games unbeaten after their slump to Spurs – similar to Plateau United in the NPFL.
The Jos-based club are top of the log with 14 points and are yet to taste defeat after winning four and drawing two games.
Their most recent result was a goalless draw away to Nasarawa United on Sunday.
Mountain of Fire Ministries FC (MFM FC) are second with 13 points followed by Abia Warriors, ABS FC, Enyimba FC and Lobi Stars are all tied on 10.
However, defending champions, Enugu Rangers, continued their unspectacular start to the season with another defeat to FC IfeanyiUbah.
The Flying Antelopes have just six points and are placed16th on the standings.
It is rather too early for title talks but Plateau will definitely be considered as favourites should they continue their superb streak just like Chelsea.
