Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has scooped the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Fans’ Player of the Month award for January.
The Brazilian was shortlisted for the gong alongside 11 other Barclays Premier League stars but claimed 40.2 per cent of the public’s vote to come out on top.
Each month, fans are given the opportunity to decide who they think is the most outstanding player in the league, out of a possible shortlist unveiled by an expert panel.
Firmino scored four goals and provided an assist across four league outings in January, a run of fixtures that included a thrilling 5-4 win over Norwich City and memorable 3-3 draw with Arsenal.
And the 24-year-old’s efforts have been recognised by Premier League fans, who singled him out for the award ahead of second-placed Wayne Rooney (36.4 per cent) and Harry Kane (23.2 per cent) in third.
Firmino joined the Reds from Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga last summer.
